Konex Foundation and Literature

Awards

  • "Ulyses Petit de Murat": Novel. It was organized in co-operation with the National Arts Fund. In 1985 Winner: María Angélica Scotti for her novel "Buenos Augurios". Book edited by the Konex Foundation.
  • "Jorge Luis Borges": Stories. It was organized in co-operation with the National Arts Fund. In 1986 Winner: Vlady Kociancich for her Stories "Con esos Ojos" (With Such Eyes) and "Todos los Caminos" (All the roads).
    1st Special Mention: Cristina Siscar for her Stories: "El lugar de todos los nombres" and "La muerte del autor".
    2nd Special Mention: Mónica López Ocon for her Stories: "El recodo" and "El bosque de casuarinas".
    3rd Special Mention: Carlos Gabriel Schapire for her Stories: "Chopin en el espejo" and "La garganta".

Other contributions

  • Contribution to the National Library in order to help finish the new building (1985)
  • Publication of a brochure on "Martín Fierro" as a homage to José Hernández published in co-operation with the "Friends of the National Library" (1986).
  • Sponsoring of the publication of "500 Años de Historia Argentina" (500 Years of Argentine History) a collection directed by Félix Luna and published weekly over 30 issues in the magazine "Siete Días" (1988).
  • 16th International Book Fair in 1990. Sponsoring the Show "A thousand words" offered by the Embassy of Israel.
  • 20th International Book Fair in 1994, a booth of Konex Foundation was set up to organize a literary competition, prizes were given.
  • Restitution of 60 books by Jorge Luis Borges that had been stolen from the Bernardino Rivadavia Popular Library in Villa Ballester (1997).
  • Sponsoring of the itinerant exhibition on "Jorge Luis Borges 1989- 1999" (Diamond Konex Award 1984) on the occasion of the centennial of his birth, May 10 to 30 at Ecole des Beaux Arts de París (1999).
  • 27th International Book Fair in 2001. Sponsoring the booth of Teatro Nacional Cervantes.
